We've had some power outtages as well as internet outtages for most of the last 3 days, so this is the first chance I've had to get some new pics out. Today the kids and I visited Cure and played in the playroom with many of the young orthopedics patients. The balloons were a hit - even with the language barrier, we played keep the balloon up for quite a while. There were a few babies, some toddlers - all the way up to a teenager who was having an afternoon chai break. Even she appreciated the balloons. We left many of the small balls, cars and other toys that people had donated to the cause before we left home. Thanks again!
Ryan is working at Cure today with a Kenyan attending. Over the last few days he's had some opportunities to chat with several missionary docs who are here full time. We've learned a lot about what kind of work is going on here as well as what family life is like in Kijabe.
Yesterday we did a little sightseeing - went to a country club at Lake Naivasha for lunch and then to a small game park on Crescent Island where we hiked to see zebras, giraffes, impalas and wildebeeste. We have no car, so we called a driver - Paul - who navigated the bumpiest road I have ever seen in my life to get us down to the mountain and onto a paved road toward the lake. Honestly, I don't know how the Land Rover isn't still in a ditch in pieces about half way down the hill. Unbelievable. The funniest part is that our kids were so worn out by the end of the day that they both fell asleep and stayed asleep all the way back up the mountain.
I can't believe there are only 2 more days to go....
I'll write more later, but I want to make sure I get some of these pictures up before our internet goes down again.......
